Monster Problems
Client: Personal Project | Project Role: Illustration & Art Direction
Project Description
Everyone has a story they want to share, so do magical and mythical monsters with fascinating origin stories.

Communicating to audiences without words or texts is a big part of communication design and it can be quite a challenging one. The intent of this project was to visually communicate a theme or a narrative through visual imagery without the use of cliché imagery and text.
Project Solution
The use of visual devices was executed as a form of communicating the lore and myths of the mythical monsters. To embrace the uniqueness of the individual monsters, different icons, colours, and locations were explored on the surface of each plane to further investigate the different environments and periods of each monster's origin. The illustrations were developed using basic geometric shapes to appeal to younger audiences and to embody scary images in a more family-friendly territory.
